High-permeability grain-oriented electrical steel, also described as high-permeability GOES or HGO, provides higher magnetic polarization and lower core loss than conventional grain-oriented grades. In some markets, this material class is also referred to as Hi-B-type CRGO.
High-permeability grain-oriented electrical steel, also described as high-permeability GOES or HGO, provides higher magnetic polarization and lower core loss than conventional grain-oriented grades. In some markets, this material class is also referred to as Hi-B-type CRGO.
It is used in transformer core designs where lower no-load loss, higher flux density or improved material efficiency is required. Final material selection should be based on the transformer design, target magnetic properties and downstream core-processing method.

Higher material performance does not by itself guarantee the no-load loss of a finished transformer. Core design, joint configuration, cutting quality, burr control, assembly and processing stresses also affect final core performance.
The required material grade and test conditions should therefore be confirmed against the transformer design before supply.
